CHAIRMAN’S REPORT FOR 2019

Firstly, I must thank the committee for a great job done over the last 12 months, for regular attendance of meetings, and helping in the running of the museum. A very special mention to my secretary Barry Quemby and Treasurer Ken Knight for the manner in which they carried out their duties during the year.

A welcome back to new/old members Ann and Warren Doman after their holidays around Australia in their caravan. Our museum would not function without our volunteers, each of them helping in their own special ways. We had Lorraine Finnie and Bob Weckert pushing lawn mowers, Kevin Clonan operating the edge trimmer, and all tending to the gardens and surrounds, amongst their other duties.

In the office and house we have Ann Doman, Mick Grambeau, Warren Doman and Terry Watson receiving items, organising their acquisition, cataloguing and displaying items if space was available. Down the back sheds we have the maintenance crew of Gary Stalenberg, John Fox, Peter Lovelock, Mark Longden & Kon Patsouris. Any job big or small is soon completed, albeit after much discussion and many stories.

During the year a major project was completed, when the cement paths into the display area in the machinery shed were finished.

Some events held during the year included an enjoyable Christmas Lunch, a stall at the Antique Fair and two Garage Sales.

We have had quite a few bus tours visit the museum during the year, and I would like to thank Bob Weckert, John Fox, Barry Quemby and Trevor McLean for their assistance in acting as guides.

Trevor & Jill Riches must be thanked for the many hours they put into researching of family histories and other information relating to the area, plus for the enormous amount of work on the museum displays during the year, including the work on preparing for the new Bells Store Display.

Finally, I must personally thank all of the volunteers who served doing Door Duty during the year, whether the weather is hot or cold they keep the doors open so the public can visit our museum.

Thank you all

Geoff Poyner
